mama jenni and baby maya

we had a wonderful, wonderful surprise yesterday...my best friend jenni and her one month old, precious baby girl, maya, came to visit kyri and i! she called on saturday and asked if she could come stay with us overnight. i said yes of course! her grandma, who lives in placerville, has cancer and they found out she is not going to make it much longer. jenni really wanted her to meet maya before she passes away. i picked up jenni and maya wednesday afternoon and brought them home for a short and sweet visit. it worked out perfect because kevin was still gone so they were perfect company for kyri and i.

maya is just too precious! she is super super tiny, still smaller at a month old than kyri was when she was born. it was so special to hold a new baby again. she is beautiful and perfect and looks just like her daddy. it was so neat to see jenni as a new mom and to see her with her daughter. i love that we will have that bond now! kyri loved having baby maya here. she has a cabbage patch baby doll that she named baby maya (so cute). she was very gentle with her and any time she was fussy or crying, she would say, "what's the matter baby maya? it's ok, baby maya." because new babies sleep so much, she was convinced that baby maya was always tired. she also liked to give her her pacifier when it fell out. such a good helper. this was a little peek for me into what it will be like when we have another baby. kyri is going to be such a wonderful, caring big sister.

jenni's visit was perfect. relaxing, enjoyable, and a time for reconnecting. because it was so hot outside (over 100 degrees!!), we stayed home and just enjoyed each others company with air conditioning. we shared many childbirth/baby stories and the many joys of having little girls. it makes me sad that we live so far apart. i do love how much i get to see her every year! the visits will be even more special now that maya is a part of the goodlin family. we love you, mama jenni and baby maya (and daddy brett too), and we miss you already!
