a very good day.

today was a good day! i started out the morning by doing some organizing. i've been wanting to go through our stuff and get rid of things we don't use anymore. it feels good to get rid of clutter. i hate when things are unorganized! i try to keep a very clean, organized house. while i was going through the cupboards in mine and kevin's bathroom, kyri was in there helping me. she found some lipstick and being the girl that she is, knew exactly what to do with it. she couldn't roll it up, but that didn't stop her from pretending to put it on. i gave her some chap stick to put on (which she loooves to do!) and she was quite content. she ate a little bit of it, but i figured it wouldn't hurt her. i organized both bathrooms and it felt great! yesterday i went through our desk, completing the organization of our the office/guestroom. now we need to go through our clothes....yipeee!

while kyri was taking her nap, i was able to do the firm! i tried a new video and it was a lot more fun than the other one. it's called "cardio party" and lets just say it made me sweat. i like to sweat when i know it's helping me get back in shape.

i also got a surprise that i wasn't expecting today. my friend kerri called me and said, "i know you are looking for a play kitchen for kyri for christmas. i'm at ross and they have a little tikes kitchen, in the box and unopened, for $40!" i called kevin at work and asked him if he would pick it up on his way home. it was the only one they had so i knew we couldn't wait. when he got it home, much to my surprise, it was the one i was looking at online and really wanted! the store price is $80 so we saved $40 by buying it at ross! i took it out of the box to check it out and it is so cute and will fit perfectly in kyri's room. thanks, kerri so much! i couldn't be happier with kyri's christmas present. what a blessing and special surprise all in one.

the best part of my day was two little words kyri said to me while i was making dinner. she walked into the kitchen with her hands reaching up to me and said, "hold you." i melted into a puddle. i have been waiting for those words. every time i hear a precious little one say to their mommy or daddy, "hold you", i just think it is the cutest thing in the world. they say "hold you" instead of "hold me" and they have their little arms up the air, waiting for you to pick them up. how can you resist? i will forever remember that moment. as soon as i picked her up, she just cuddled and held on tight. i love my little kyri. everyday she makes my day a very good day.

pumpkin carving

kyri wasn't too sure about carving pumpkins this year. all she wanted to do was put the seeds back in the pumpkin and take the lid on and off. she kept saying "ewwww" and "yucky"...such a girl!

kyri is such a little love. she even gave the pumpkin a kiss!

i'm pretty sure this was the smallest pumpkin i have ever carved. isn't it so cute?

she really was having fun with her pumpkin, just look at that face!

our finished pumpkins! daddy carved the big one. kyri didn't like the lights off so much, but we wanted to show her how cool they look with the candles inside!

halloween partaaay!

our friend, tarissa, invited us last night to her family's huge halloween party that they have every year. it was awesome! the backyard was decked out with halloween decorations and there was lots of food, games for the kids, and karaoke. almost all of the kids and adults were dressed up too! kev and i went as a cute cowboy/cowgirl couple (which was what we could throw together at the last minute) and kyri was our little nemo. tarissa came as a mormon missionary and she looked so great...i loved the helmet! we got to hang out with the unfried's and kyri loved the bowling and miniature golf, which she played with most of the time with aaron. she is such an adventurous little girl and was so content just wondering around and looking at everything that was there. she wouldn't eat dinner so i'm pretty sure all she ate was a rice crispy treat pumpkin, a banana when we got home, and her milk. when you're busy playing, the last thing you want to do is stop and eat. it was altogether a very fun evening and we are so glad we were able to go this year! thanks for inviting us to your family's halloween festivities, tarissa!

fall play day

last thursday we had a fall play day at the park for the moms and their little ones at our church, emmaus. it was a very cold day! it was suppose to rain, but not a drop all day. we had cookie decorating, a treasure hunt, and leaf rubbings. the kids had a lot of fun, even though it was freezing! kyri was nemo and her best buddy, micah, was cookie monster. kyri was the cutest nemo i have ever seen!

because we didn't have a very good turnout (mostly just our play group that meets on thursdays), we decided to have another fall play day yesterday. we had one new mom come and her kids...yay! it was worth it just for that. our goal was to get more moms connected so it was a good day. and a very warm day! complete opposite of last week. we did all the same activities for the kids and we had more cute costumes this time. i really love planning these fun days so i can't wait for the next one!

the firm

i just got done doing my first workout with "the firm." its a new set of dvd's that i just ordered and they come with hand weights. lets just say...it kicked my butt! i haven't worked out for an hour, that hard, in a looooong time! i feel like i just got out of the shower because i am sweating so much. eeewwwwww! it feels really good though! i know that the only way i am going to get my body toned again after having a baby, is if i really work my body. walking just isn't going to cut it. because i have a toddler, i only have certain times of the day that i can get my workout in. i have to be intentional and be consistent. thats the hardest thing for me. i hate working out and to do it at least 5 days a week is going to kill me.

my body needs this and i need this to help with increasing my confidence. ever since i had kyri, i have been sooo self-conscious of my body and i think about it everyday. i know outer appearance isn't everything, i just want to feel comfortable with my body again. for all of you that have had babies, you know what i mean. i never knew it was going to be this hard. for all my family and friends, hold me accountable to "the firm"! as funny as that sounds, i need it!

tuesday night at the unfried's

we love our friends josh and rebecca! they are some of our friends here in lincoln that we have become closest to since we have moved here. josh leads our small group on thursday nights and rebecca and i are in a play group together on thursday mornings. we try to get together with them as often as we can to hang out. kyri loves loves loves their son, aaron, and they have lots of fun when they play together! josh and rebecca have actually "reserved" kyri for their son as his future wife. we're ok with that :)

we went over to their house tuesday night for dinner and it was extra yummy! i cooked for them chicken with a lemon sauce, roasted potatoes, and green beans. for dessert we had sorbet floats, which is raspberry sorbet with strawberries over lime-mint soda. so refreshing! after dinner, the kids played for awhile together. kyri loves aaron's guitar, the one that has all the buttons. she put it on all by herself and knew exactly what to do! she also already has a gift with the drums. i'm pretty sure she will be a musical little girl, especially if her dad has anything to do with it.

after the kids went to bed, we just stayed up and watched "what not to wear". josh and rebecca are our t.v. friends and they like a lot of the same shows we watch. we too love to cuddle on the couch at night and just veg every once in awhile. every time we hang out with the unfried's, we can't wait until the next time we see eachother. they are such a blessing in our lives and always encouraging to be around. thank you, Lord, for the unfried family. we love them!

pigtails and ponytails

what can i say, i'm am a happier mom because i can now put my daughters hair in pigtails and ponytails! kyri came out of the womb with a head full of hair so she has always had a lot of it and i have actually cut it three times already. the last time i cut it, i decided i was going to let it grow and grow and grow. i love having a daughter and being able to do her hair! it's so fun! she actually hates when i do her hair so i usually just put a clip in the front and off we go. when i look at her with her hair up, she looks so much older to me. my baby isn't a baby anymore, she is a little girl. did i say i love having a girl? cause i do!

she is even more precious because she loves her thumb and her blanket. the thumb started at around 9 weeks old. i was a little sad at first because i know it's a hard habit to break, but i soon realized how wonderful it is! no binkies to bring with me...her thumb goes where she goes. the blanket attachment came about 2 months ago and it is now a serious necessitiy...at bedtime, naptime, movie time, in the car time, all the time.

she is a little love and we just can't get enough of her cuteness!

kevin turns 27!

happy birthday, babe! kevin turned 27 on wednesday and we celebrated at our small group last night. i made a home-made white chocolate with raspberry filling cake (my first "from scratch" cake!) and it was very yummy. the unfried's have a great party house so it was perfect that we could celebrate with our friends who already come to our small group on thursday nights. we ate lots of food and just hung out while the kids played. we love our small group because it just feels like we're with family when we are there. the kids play togehter and we are just really flexible and we always have a good time together. we really do love all of the relationships we have built with our church. yay for friends! and yay for birthdays!

"bok"

in kyri's language...bok = milk
that's what she calls it and she sure does love her bok!
(kyri wanted to wear daddy's shirt over her jammies)

bishop's pumpkin farm

today we went to the pumpkin patch! bishop's pumpkin farm has the best pumpkins, the best apple pie, and the best train ride in town! kevin had the day off today so we decided to make our annual trip on this gorgeous day. i think kyri's favorite part was petting the goats...and maybe her sugar cookie. we went on the train, had a picnic lunch, looked at all the animals in the petting zoo, shared a yummy treat from the bakery, and then went on the hay ride. we didn't find any good pumpkins at the patch we were at, so we decided to venture to one nearby. we found 3 perfect pumpkins and kyri just wanted to stay in the pumpkin patch all day! what a fun adventure for her to just walk around and see all of the colorful pumpkins.

we came home tired, dirty, and excited to carve our pumpkins on halloween! fall is my favorite season...pumpkin pie, the leaves changing colors, and going to bishop's pumpkin farm.

uncle deej

our beloved uncle deej moved back to omaha and we are very sad he is gone. kyri misses him lots. he was here for the summer doing an internship at our church with kevin's other brother, andrew. uncle andy is still here in lincoln (yay!). kyri and d.j. definitely have a special bond and she just loves him so much! he would play with her for hours and she would just giggle and giggle with him. i think maybe its because he has a slight resemblance to her daddy...don't you think? it was really hard for us to see him go, not knowing when we will see him again. we sure did get used to him being here. deej...we miss you bro. i hope you will come see us for kyri's 2nd birthday!

mute math

a couple of weeks ago kev and i went to see mute math in concert...it was totally awesome! kevin saw them earlier this year, but this was a first for me. they played at a small venue in orangevale so it was a tight fit. we were about 8 people back from the lead singer, who is a looker i must say. they are crazy on stage...jumping off stuff, the drummer tapes headphones to his head, doing hand-stands on the keyboard. i loved every minute of it! it sure was nice to have a night out just kevin and i. i felt like i was in high school again. i love love love mute math and i just can't get enough of their catchy tunes. if you havn't checked out thier music, go here. you won't regret it, i promise!

and so it begins.

i have wanted to start a blog for some time now...so here it goes.

our daughter is the love of our lives. my husband, kevin, and i spend so much of our day just watching her and laughing at all the silly things she does. kyri is 21 months old now and will be 2 in 3 months. crazy! i can't believe i don't have a baby anymore. she is such a toddler! and such a girl! she loves her babies and already loves to wear mommy's shoes and clothes. her newest thing is twirling around like a ballerina. she repeats every word we say (so we really have to be very careful). i stay at home with our little one and i wouldn't change it for the world! i can't tell you how much i love just holding her in my arms and playing with her hair and smelling that baby smell that i hope never goes away.

having a daughter makes me realize just how much i love every single day of my life and the plans God has for me. he has given me the most wonderful husband and the most precious baby girl. my dreams have come true and they keep coming true everyday.
