sweet sweet voice.

kyri loves to sing. her favorite song at the moment is "jesus loves me." yesterday when she was done eating her lunch, she started singing in her highchair. i quickly grabbed the camera and this is what i got! it may be hard for most to understand, but the first song is jesus loves me (with hand motions), a little doodle-bops, and her rendition of mickey mouse clubhouse. her voice is just so precious. every night when she goes to bed she asks us to sing jesus loves me...then interupts us with "everybody, wait a minute!" and asks for another song. oh kyri. i love you.

enjoy kyri's singing debut! (notice the p.b. and jelly face)

cooking with mama!

kyri and i made our second breakfast together...whole-wheat pancakes (a delicious martha stewart recipe!) with real maple syrup, fresh strawberries and scrambled eggs (daddy's favorite). i love cooking with my daughter. she gets so excited when she is helping mama in the kitchen! what a dream come true for me.

kyri mixing the dry ingredients. she did such a good job!

she decided that it would be a good idea to lick the bowl when a tiny bit of the batter was dripping down the side. silly girl!

i let her cut a few strawberries all by herself, with a kids knife of course! don't worry...kev was right by her side the entire time. she was very careful and very proud of her cutting skills, even though she ended up eating all the strawberries that she cut.

kyri enjoying our yummy friday morning breakfast. breakfast is definitely a favorite meal of ours and it is so nice to share a meal that our daughter took a part in making!

a girl after my own heart

every friday morning i look forward to making breakfast for my family. its the only morning that kev doesn't have to work or be at church early so we have the whole day to just spend together! love that! i just love making breakfast (and kevin loves it too)! so i decided to make apple cinnamon all-bran muffins. they were from a mix, which i usually opt for home-made, but sounded pretty healthy and yummy. kyri has been helping me make fruit smoothies in the morning...she loves to push the button on the blender. so i asked her if she wanted to help mommy make muffins. she was ecstatic! she ran to the bathroom to get her stool so that she could reach the counter tops. she helped me by putting all of the muffin liners in the pan, all by herself. she also helped mommy by mixing the batter. you can see from the pictures that she felt like such a big girl cooking with mom in the kitchen. what a super morning! i love to cook and bake and to now have a daughter that loves it too, just touches my heart. when the muffins were done, kyri was anxious to taste her accomplishment. they were delicious! i'm so proud of my little baker. what will kyri and mommy make next?

is my child accident prone?

so kyri got her millionth bang to the mouth on thursday. we were at the park for playgroup and she was on one of those horsey-bouncy things that are on a big spring and they rock back and forth. a little boy came up and was rocking kyri on the horse. no harm done. then he pulled the front towards him and just let it go, smacking kyri right in the face. yes, it was an accident, but still very frustrating as a mom to see. she started screaming and the blood came on quick. i sat her down on a bench and looked at mouth...her tooth went through her lip! she had a gash that went from the inside to the outside. this was a first. she was also eating a cracker so my first concern was to get it out so she wouldn't choke. i used about 5 wipes to clean up her lip. i felt so sad for my little girl...and scared. it just kills me to see her in pain. the cut on the outside was very tiny, but the inside looked very painful. when we got home i called the nurseline and asked them for advice. kyri's lip continued to bleed for quite some time and that was my main concern. they said to put ice on it and watch the bleeding. when she got up from her nap, there was blood on her bottom lip and i started freaking out! i called back nurseline right away. because she was just sucking her thumb, that triggered the bleeding on the inside. i gave kyri an ice cube in a paper towel and she sucked on it until it was gone. the bleeding stopped. she was eating and drinking fine. because the cut on the outside was so small and not gaping open, there was no need to take her in unless i noticed an infection. it swelled up quite a bit, but today it looks so much better. she has eaten lots of popsicles, which was also a first for kyri and is now her new favorite treat! i found these mighty magic minis and they are so great! they are super tiny, toddler size popsicles that worked perfectly...and they are only 15 calories each!

kyri is my tough little girl and bounces right back after a horrible bang to the mouth, every time. i don't know how she does it. she may be accident prone, but her energy and spontaneous spirit is what i love about her. she runs every where she goes and is such a happy, full-of-life little girl! her uncle andy just gave her a "sheriff woody" and a "buzz lightyear" (from toy story) that were actually happy meal toys that were his from probably 12 years ago. woody is her new best friend. she has been carrying that doll around every where. its quite cute to see her playing pretend with her toys. i just love this age (minus the bumps and bruises).

kyri got a haircut too!

don't worry...its still long and beautiful. it had just been too many months without a cut, so i needed to trim it. i really wanted to do it myself, but i was worried that she wouldn't sit still for me (thinking back to her last haircut). i put her in her booster seat and put on 101 dalmations. it worked perfectly! i basically just gave her a straight cut and then did some layering. that girl has such thick hair for a 2 year old! she didn't really get antsy until the end so i gave her some raisins...then some m&m's. a moms gotta do what a moms gotta do! i'm really glad i decided to cut kyri's hair instead of taking her somewhere. not only does it save us money, but i also don't have to worry about them cutting too much off. now that i know the tricks, maybe i won't wait 9 months to cut her hair again.

oh...kyri went pee-pee in the potty 3 TIMES today! when daddy was at work, she got to tell him on the phone, "pee-pee in potty! yay!" are we on our way to a potty-trained kyri? we'll see!

my new hairdo!

short and stylish. not what i was expecting to have done today, but oh so cute! thanks kimi...you did a wonderful job! i haven't had my hair this short for some time now so it will take some getting use to. it is perfect for spring time and easy to style. just what a mama of a toddler needs! i love it i love it i love it.

what do you think? is it me?

play day at royer park

we went to a new park today in roseville for playgroup, well a new park to us, and it was super-cute!

kyri's favorite part was swinging on the swings and going down the big slide. she climpled up and went down many many times.

everything was made out of wood. kyri had so much fun exploring the park, but had no desire to go in the sand (she hates getting dirty).

the teeter-totter was super cool too. what a great park! we'll have to go again soon and bring daddy. kyri just loves to play outside in this beautiful weather.

m-i-c...see you real soon!

it's official...we are going to disneyland! we have been talking about taking kyri to disneyland for some time now, and now is the perfect time! this summer we are planning on trying for baby number 2 (yay!) so we knew that if we don't go now, we won't be going for a long time. this will be our last big vacation with just our little kyri. she is crazy about so many disney characters right now, especially the mickey mouse clubhouse gang. we will be staying with our friends, the dunlap's. they live in riverside and have been so gracious to let us stay with them! we went to school with karen and steve, but now we don't see them very often. they invited us to stay with them and we couldn't be more excited! they have season passes so they will be going to the parks with us. we will do one day at disneyland and one day at disney's california adventure. can't wait to have an $8 disneyland corndog! we will head after a few days in so cal and possibly stay in monterey bay on our way home. we are really really looking forward to this family vacation...it is much needed! we have commited to atleast going on one big family trip every year. we want our children to experience new and fun things. that is so important to us! this year our dream of going back to disneyland after waiting 5 years is going to finally come true! so mickey mouse...we will see you real soon!
