"baby belly"

my bestest friend, jenni, just came to visit us this past weekend and it was simply wonderful to have her here! she is having her first baby, baby maya, in less than 2 months! one of the reasons for her visit was her baby shower that her sisters gave her on saturday. i picked jenni up at the airport on thursday night and she spent all day friday with us. i made whole-wheat blueberry scones for breakfast and then later that afternoon we went to chevy's for lunch. every minute that we were at home, kyri was totally attached to jenni and her "baby belly" as she called it. she kept lifting up her shirt and pushing on her outie belly button. it was so cute to see her with jenni. she just wanting jenni to follow her everywhere she went. they colored together, pretend painted together, read books together...kyri really enjoyed having a buddy to play with her. she also started saying "oh my goodness!" her new favorite phrase. friday night kyri hit her chin on the desk and got two little teeth marks on the inside of her bottom lip. so sad. i swear, that child gets more bumps and bruises on her face than any other part of her body. she's pretty tough though and bounces back quickly. we ended the evening with the movie "once". i really liked it, especially the music. amazing! the two lead roles actually just won an oscar tonight for one of the songs they did in the film. a must see!

kyri, jenni, and i all headed to chico saturday morning for her baby shower. i helped her sisters by doing the games and jenni and i made chocolate lollipop favors. they turned out super cute! her sisters did a wonderful job with the decorating and all of the food. there was about 25 women there, what a great turnout! many of the ladies i have not seen in so long and most of them have never met kyri so it was really neat to catch up with old friends. my mom was at the shower so she was a huge help with kyri. the shower went very well and jenni will be going home with many pink things for baby maya. kyri and i headed back to lincoln that evening, driving in the horrendous rainy, windy storm. not too enjoyable, however, we made it home safely! i am just so excited for my best friend to have a baby...a baby girl! the next time i see her she will have a precious baby and i can't wait to finally meet her! what a wonderful visit it was to spend time with jenni. every time we see each other, it is almost as if no time even went by. i know the relationship that jenni and i have will become even closer when she becomes a mama too. yay for friends and for babies!
