kyri has never had an issue with sleeping. she was sleeping through the night at 9 weeks old (thanks to baby wise!) and we have been blessed with a very good sleeper ever since. some may say its not fair that she is such a good sleeper...we were just very consistent with her from the beginning with feedings and sleep times...always on a schedule! she has never tried to get out of her crib and will usually just lay in there for a while when she wakes up in the morning. she doesn't wake up until around 8:00 and takes a 2 hour nap everyday. she loves to sleep and she loves her bed! today i converted kyri's crib to a big girl bed! she is almost 2 1/2 and we thought it would be a good time to teach her how to stay in her bed at naptime and bedtime. she just wanted to jump on the bed when i was all finished getting it ready for her. such a fun, new thing! i was very excited to do this today, but a little scared as to what naptime was going to look like. i got her excited too about sleeping in her big girl bed and got her pillow and blankets ready for ni-ight. she could now get in bed all by herself (no more lifting a 27 lb. toddler in and out of bed) and i sang her a couple of songs and let her go to sleep. 30 seconds later she opened her door. crap! so i put her back in her bed, explained what it means to have a big girl bed and to be a big girl, and left again. 5 minutes later i hear her playing with her toys. she is so excited that she can get in and OUT of bed! i tell her to get back in her bed and go ni-night. 5 minutes later she is out of bed again. into her bed she goes! 10 minutes later i go check on kyri and this is what i find...
she did it! it only took about 20 minutes for her to fall asleep in her big girl bed, even though she could now get out. i was so proud! she slept for over 2 hours and even when she woke up, she just laid in bed, cuddling her blanket. she must really love her bed! tonight we put her to bed and she didn't come out once. i went in there after 5 minutes and all of her stuffed animals were in her bed with her. i told her should could keep her nemo in her bed. when i went back in there a few minutes later, she was asleep, all cuddled with nemo and her blanket. so precious! i'm so happy this was an easy transition for kyri. i guess we'll see how tomorrow goes! what's next for the hornacek family? we conquer potty training!!

Yeah, except she's sucking her thumb!
Haha, you know I'm just jealous that she started sleeping through the night at at 9 weeks. Maya isn't even close to that. Oh, wait! Haha, she isn't even 9 weeks old yet. Well, I'm a smarty pants.
