lets start with the downs...i feel like i have been potty training kyri for seven years! the last week of my life has been the longest, most testing, week ever as a mother. i never thought it would be this hard! i thought girls were easier, but i don't think you can ignore personality types...strong willed = more challenging. i have been staying at home most days, if at all possible, just so i can keep kyri in underwear all day and avoid public embarrassment when my child decides to pee or poop in her pants. i have washed so many pairs of cute, tiny underwear. kyri started potty training with a huge fear of even letting her pee or poop come out, which made the process of actually going, foooorever. patience, patience, patience. i have spent many hours in the bathroom, sitting on the floor, reading the same books over and over, singing lots of potty songs..."you'll do it! you'll use the potty!"
now to the ups...
i feel so proud of my little kyri! she really has come a long way since we started this whole process. i made her a "kyri's potty time!" chart to help get her excited about going potty. i bought a woody, jessie, and buzz doll on ebay to give her when she conquers the potty. she knows that each sticker is one step closer to her jessie doll! (the one that she is really super excited about). she loves picking out a sticker every time she goes. we had some great victories today...kyri went pee-pee twice while we were at kerri's house and after her bath tonight...kyri went POO-POO for the first time and got 2 stickers!! YAY!! she just did it, like no big deal, got up and said, "mommy, that's stinky!" i couldn't have been more proud to see a stinky poop in her potty. even though there have been accidents, there have been even more victories. she is now at the point where it is a much faster process, especially since the fear and anxiety are gone. she knows how to wipe, wash her hands, and flush. i now get so excited when i hear, "i hear something...mommy! come here! i did it!"

YAY!! I am sure it has been very frustrating. But you sound like such an awesome Mom.
Really? It's that big of a deal? Great! I was hoping to just shame Maya into using the toilet rather than her pants, but it seems like that won't be as easy as I once thought.... what about logic? do little kids understand logic and reasoning? Perhaps I could threaten her with making Jesus upset because she is not obeying me by doing what I say! Oh, that's a good one! Hopefully it won't come to that though.
Your chart is so cute! You are so creative Sarah! I had to laugh at how proud you were to see Kyri's stinky poop :) We've had so much fun hanging out with you guys this summer. We are so thankful for your friendship and Micah especially loves his best friend Kyri.
