the gifts. i have to say, kev did good! we usually don't do many gifts for each other, but kevin went above and beyond for his wife this year. he picked out some super cute clothes, as well as some new kitchen tools. he knows me oh so well! i started shopping for the kids months ago so i had plenty of time to find just what i was looking for. they both have more toys than they can play with, but its always fun to get a few new ones. for kyri, we got her a leapster explorer. most perfect gift ever! kev got a good discount with best buy and on the games too. we love it because even though their video games, they are all educational. the toy story 3 game is her fave. kaden got boy toys. a car ramp, cars, books, and more cars. we also got him his first cabbage patch doll. it's a soft and squishy one to cuddle. perfect for our buddy. they loved all of their gifts...stockings are always a hit. will always be my favorite part of christmas morning. i don't know why, but i just love my stocking and all the little treasures inside. kev knows this and knows not to mess up on the stocking. a big no-no. mine was filled to the top with lots of precious gifts. thanks, babe!
after we cleaned up the mound of wrapping paper, we ventured into our newest christmas morning tradition...skyping with our omaha family! can i just say this was awesome. we planned ahead and sent our gifts to omaha, wrapped, and in a big box. they sent our gifts to us as well. auntie jen, chris, uncle deej, and auntie andrea, were all at grandma and grandpa's house. we were all able to open our gifts together...thanks to skype! it was so neat to see each other, sharing gifts and saying "thank you!" we did miss our brother, andy, who was working christmas day. kyri and kaden loved being able to see their omaha family on christmas morning! even though it was on skype, it was such a special moment. one to cherish and continue every year.
the rest of christmas day was spent being l-a-z-y. we watched our favorite christmas movie, polar express. kaden took his afternoon nap. kev fell asleep next to kyri on the couch. i made a yummy dinner of apricot honey ham, mashed potatoes, and citrus spinach salad. it was simply delicious. everything about our day was wonderful. i love my beautiful family and making memories together. kyri and kaden are true joys. they make the holidays oh so merry and bright! every christmas just gets better and better.
you can check out the recipe here. i changed the filling a bit, by spreading on butter and topping with cinnamon sugar. the results were heavenly!

Yay, I love it! We do cinnamon rolls Christmas morning too but mine are not gluten free, they are as guilty pleasure as can be. :)
