we had a super fun halloween party with our playgroup friends! the kids all dressed up in the costumes and enjoyed plenty of treats. we gathered at the ernst home, which is the best party house around! lauri is such a gracious host. thanks, friend! our playgroup has grown and i just love that so many of kyri and kaden's friends are able to get together each week. it's a great time for their little relationships to grow. a beautiful thing.
for those that have waited to see kyri's cupcake costume...here it is! you can see her HUGE smile too. she was so excited to finally be a scrumptious cupcake! it all started a couple months ago when we got the pottery barn catologue in the mail. on the cover is this cupcake costume, which of course is adorable. the price, not so much. for weeks, kyri was asking, "mommy, can i please be a cupcake for halloween?" the only way this was going to happen is if mommy made the costume. i found inspiration from this tutorial. i was able to buy all of the felt and supplies from joanne's for around $10...way better than $60! i changed the pattern up a bit, making it my own. i tend to do that. it was all one piece, a slip dress. it was pretty easy to make, just time consuming. i absolutely LOVE how it turned out! totally kyri and totally cute. after making the cupcake costume, i decided that i'm going to start making my kids costumes every year. so cheap and i get to be creative...sounds good to me! there is already talk about kaden and kyri being peter pan and wendy next halloween. can't wait!

to say that kaden loves lauri, is an understatement. when we are at lauri's house, all he wants is to hold his lauri. she has cared for him since he was a tiny baby and it just melts me when he cuddles her. such a little love.
