28 weeks.

i am officially done with my 28th week of pregnancy! wooohooo! so i guess i am 29 weeks now, just a little behind on my updates. i am loving this belly and being pregnant! kyri and kevin can't get enough rubbing and kissing the belly. it is the most precious thing to see kyri talk to her baby brother. she is so in love already. every toy she has, she can't wait to share with kaden. when i laugh, my belly shakes and kyri says, "mom, stop shaking your belly!" so hilarious. i don't quite feel like a humongous whale yet, but i know it won't be long. carrying around another human being doesn't exactly help in the keeping-cool situation. you could say that this summer heat is not my best friend. only 2 more months...i can do this!

the nesting process has begun. i am washing baby clothes and blankets, getting all of the baby stuff out and put together, sewing (yes...i will post my projects so all of you can see!), and organizing like crazy. on kev's days off, he is helping me to get the office ready to switch to kyri's room. i can't wait to put everything together for her big girl room. she's so excited! once that is complete...we can get started on kaden's room. i have a few things to paint to put on the walls. he is going to have such an adorable room! my goal is to have both rooms done before the end of june. jenni, brett, and maya will be here visiting so that is my motivation. plus...the bigger i get, the harder it will be to do much of anything. we don't have much planned before the baby comes, just a lot of me cleaning everything in sight. we are going to the beach for the day with the loomis family in a couple weeks, the goodlins visit at the end of june will be super fun, and kev's going to omaha for his brother's wedding in july. then we will be counting down the days and just waiting. waiting to meet our precious kaden.

may moments.

kevin and i headed to san francisco for our 6 year anniversary, which was on may 3 (i know...sorry for the blog silence). this was our first overnight trip since we had kyri. crazy...what took us so long?! it was a quick trip, but very nice to have time alone, just the two of us. we went to a fabulous local mexican food place for dinner, lots of relaxing at the hotel, sleeping in, afternoon at pier 39, lunch at bubba gump shrimp...my favorite. a special getaway to celebrate our love. love you, babe!

mother's day was wonderful. kevin bought me beautiful flowers and a cute, little nightgown. he also wrote me a card from baby kaden, which was very special. kyri picked out a silky blue blanket for kaden (like the one that she can't live without) and can't wait to give it to him. until then, she likes to lay it on my belly to "keep him warm." after church, we went to red robin for lunch and i thoroughly enjoyed a big, fat hamburger. nap time, playing with play-doh with my tiny love, and just being at home with my little family...made for a perfect day.

kerri and carmen...carmen is one of my three pregnant friends!
to celebrate mother's day, we had a luncheon for the women at our church. we shared a pot-luck meal and everyone brought a "mother moment" photo to share. it was so relaxing, eating together and sharing life with one another. i love our church. the kids played outside (it was an extremely hot day!) and spent the afternoon getting wet and being silly. kyri was in heaven.

what a great way to cool off on a hot day!

kyri enjoying a lemonade popsicle in her underwear.
priceless childhood moment.

we spent one afternoon at the unfried's and kyri had so much fun playing in the pool with her friends! she just loves aaron and jonah. she feels right at home when we are with them. rebecca and i, the pregnant mommies, sat in the sun, while the kids splashed in the pool. we enjoyed chips and guacamole for our afternoon snack...mmmmmm. the joys of being a stay-at-home-mama. i love creating fun, summer memories with friends.

making "american flag" cookies on memorial day. i love doing little projects with kyri. she is so crafty and loves to cook...just like her mommy. she just couldn't stop eating the frosting. her most favorite part of baking with mom...tasting it of course! it is so fun to have a precious girl after my own heart!

24 weeks...and revealing of the name!

"mommy, your belly is getting bigger!" yes, it is...everyday. this little man is a squirmy one! he moves all over the place and enjoys doing cartwheels in my belly. kyri and daddy love to feel him move. this is such a wonderful time for all of us.

the waiting is over...we have chosen a name for our baby boy!

kaden michael

we have fallen in love with the name kaden...which means "fighter". michael...which means "handsome" and is also kevin's middle name. it feels so right. we have peace with our decision. we finally have a name for our son! we love our little kaden and can't wait to hold him in our arms in only a few, short months!

easter sunday

easter sunday was so very special this year...not only were we in omaha, but we celebrated with grandpa, grandma, auntie jen, uncle d.j. and andrea, as well as patti's brother larry and his family. they came up on saturday from wisconsin and stayed through the rest of our trip. we went to church in the morning and then came home to prepare the easter feast. patti and i did a lot of prep work the day before, which was so helpful! i'm pretty sure i was in the kitchen all day on saturday. i made "easter basket" cupcakes and a cheesecake with strawberries for dessert. before we enjoyed our meal, grandpa and uncle larry hid all of the easter eggs in the backyard so the girls were able to have their easter egg hunt. thankfully it wasn't raining! kyri was so attached to larry and janet's daughter, megan. she followed her everywhere and they had so much fun playing together! it was nice for her to have a friend. kyri was sure not without attention on this trip! mom and dad were pretty much out of the picture...she wanted grandma and grandpa to do everything. i can't complain, but we did miss our daughter while we were there. how can you not miss that cute face?

after our bellies were full, most of us enjoyed the whole sunday nap thing. some of us watched golf, others watched the sound of music. we just ate and relaxed all day long. perfect! it really was so wonderful to be together as a family and to enjoy the company of those you love. i know this will forever be a special easter to remember, spent at grandma and granpa's house.

all ready to go to church on easter sunday!

easter eggs and beautiful sunshine

kyri was able to dye her very first easter eggs at grandpa and grandmas house...and auntie jen came over too! she just liked coloring on the eggs with crayon and then seeing them come out of the dye, all bright and colorful. after the easter eggs were beautified, grandpa took kyri out in their back yard to play. it was a gorgeous day! he had this globe beach ball that they kicked around for hours. it was so nice for her to have a big yard to play in. every minute spend with her grandpa and grandma is so very precious. she just loves them to pieces.

kyri calls her, "my friend, auntie jen"

being creative with crayons and easter eggs.

family traditions are my favorite.

look! i'm ready, grandpa!

a day at the omaha zoo

now that we have been back from our wonderful trip to omaha for over a week now, i guess its time for me to post some pictures already! i'll start with our trip to the omaha zoo because that was kyri's most favorite part. i have so many pictures to choose from, but these are my faves. grandma, grandpa, uncle d.j. and auntie jen were all there to join in on the fun! the omaha zoo really is the coolest zoo and has so much to see. kyri was in heaven...being able to get so close to so many animals and enjoying every minute of it with the whole family. it was a beautiful day outside, a little chilly, and we were able to see almost all of the animals that we wanted to see. kyri was most excited about seeing the lions and tigers. she also loved watching the monkeys being oh so silly and staring at all of the sharks and fish in the underwater tunnel. she was such a good girl all day and fell asleep instantly on our drive home. long day, filled with too much fun!

i love my little family.

we were so facinated by these gorillas...such neat animals.

3 feet tall and standing next to king julian!

riding the carousel with grandpa. couldn't be more content.

just checkin' out the fish in one of the giant fish tanks.
